University Scholarships
Most universities have a number of internal scholarships for which students can apply. At some schools, students' application to the school acts as their application for some internal scholarships, while some schools require a separate scholarship application. In many cases, students must apply to the school by midway through the first semester in order to qualify to be considered for the school's scholarship pool. Specific departments within universities (e.g., Chemistry, Mathematics, Business, etc.) typically offer their own major-specific scholarships as well - these usually have separate applications and deadlines.
Information about all types of university-based scholarships can usually be found on schools' scholarship and financial aid websites. Since each school runs their process differently, it's very important to visit their specific sites to learn more information.
Keep in mind that many universities also require scholarship applicants and recipients to file their Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) by March 10th or earlier. Go to this link for more information about the FAFSA and financial aid application process.
